The Exewing Fundraisers are very happy to announce that Sarah Sutton will be joining us at our family fundraiser at Pecorama, East Devon on Sunday 10th July.
Sarah played the character Nyssa, who was companion to both the fourth Doctor, Tom Baker and the fifth, Peter Davison.
Cast in the show in 1981, Sarah’s debut story was The Keeper of Traken, which also introduced us to Anthony Ainleys portrayal of the Master.
Nyssa is an aristocratic native of Traken, the daughter of Tremas, who is soon to become the Master.
Along with the Doctor she shared the TARDIS with Adric, Tegan and Turlough.
During her journeys in the TARDIS she witnesses the Fourth Doctor’s regeneration into the Fifth, battled the Master, Tereleptils, Cybermen, Giant Snakes, Omega and the Master again, got involved with the Great Fire of London and met Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge Stewart!
Travelling to places such as Prehistoric Earth, Heathrow, Amsterdam, Gallifrey and finally Terminus.
It is at Terminus that she decides to leave the Doctor to stay behind and help turn the space station into a hospital.
Before Doctor Who Sarah appeared in various other television programmes including Alice Through the Looking Glass (1974) as Alice, The Moon Stallion (1978) as Diana Purwell and The Crucible (1980) as Susannah Walcott.
After Who there have been appearances as Sarah Dryden in the BBC’s medical soap opera Casualty (the 1989 episode “Charity”), and as Wendy in the serial Unnatural Pursuits (1991, written by Simon Gray and starring Alan Bates).
Sarah reprised the role of Nyssa in 1993, in the Doctor WhoChildren in Need special Dimensions in Time, and to date several excellent audio plays from Big Finish have featured Sarah reprising her role of Nyssa.
We are delighted that Sarah will be joining us at our event.
