Our main project each year is to hold our “Star Wars Day”. This one day event is usually held on the first Sunday in March, it starts at 10am and finishes at around 5pm. An average of 450 people have attended the last few events. The venue is at the local sports centre, in Honiton, East Devon, England. It has proven to be the most appropriate building in our area to host the event.
The day consists of invited guest’s hosting question and answer sessions and signing autograph’s. Competitions are another important part of the day and we have several; Fancy dress, prize draws, art & model, quizzes and lots more, all with great prizes. The involvement of guests in these activities is welcomed, especially in the judging of competitions. Replica props and costumes are put on display along with relevant merchandise and memorabilia.
A number of reputable dealers are also present on the day selling their wares. Every single penny of profit we make is given to our chosen charities. Donations, both time and money, hard work and a lot of goodwill goes into making our Star Wars Day’s the success they have become.
Charities that we have supported include; The Exeter Leukaemia Fund, Honiton Hospiscare and The Devon Air Ambulance.
The group meet usually at the Heathfield Inn, Honiton, East Devon, on the last Sunday of the month. These meets are primarily to organise the fundraising activities, but they also involve: Video watching, discussions and a general get together to talk merchandise, conventions, props, costuming, films, etc, etc. Anyone with an interest is welcome.
